Kinleap also provides an outreach service for rural and regional families, offering tele-health support to ensure children in these areas have access to essential therapy services. our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality care for children wherever they are.

  • Kinleap is passionate about sharing knowledge and supporting our community.

Not sure if OT is right for your child? Seeking a second opinion? Our free discovery calls provide guidance at any stage of your journey.

Let’s connect and explore how we can support your child’s development!

  • After your initial parent consult session, we might suggest a formal assessment to help spotlight your child’s strengths, needs, and next steps.

We’ve got a range of evidence-based assessment options that let us best match your family’s goals:

    • Little Leap Assessment – A gentle, fun-focused overview for younger children to get a feel for how they’re blossoming across key developmental areas. This can be used to assess School readiness.

    • Big Leap Assessment – A deep dive into motor skills, sensory processing, emotions, and daily routines, great when there’s more to explore in your child’s needs.

    • Functional Capacity Assessment (NDIS) – Tailored to support NDIS funding applications, plan reviews, or renewals with clear, functional insights.

Every assessment comes with a clear, easy-to-understand report packed with personalised, practical recommendations so you’ll know exactly how to continue supporting your child’s growth at home, school, and beyond.

  • We begin with an Initial Parent Consult, a relaxed conversation where we gather the full picture: your child’s developmental history, strengths, everyday challenges, your hopes and goals and concerns you are noticing.

From there, depending on what we explore together, we might recommend a more tailored assessment to help deepen our understanding of your child’s strengths and the areas where they’d benefit most from support.

After Assessment (if completed) you and your therapist will discuss the findings from the assessment and if OT is indicated, a plan will be developed and OT goals will be set, focusing on developing your child's challenge areas to best support your child to cope with the world around them and achieve their goals.

  • Intensive therapy blocks involve high-frequency sessions over a short period of time, these programs are designed to accelerate skill development in children. By focusing on targeted goals, these programs build essential skills in a fun and engaging way.

Intensive therapy typically requires a commitment of 3-5 sessions/week for 2-3 weeks. Your therapist will be able to recommend the best fit for your child and family, taking into consideration your lifestyle and current commitments.

Benefits of following an intensive therapy plan:

    • Faster progress through consistent practice. Consistent exposure supports development of foundation skills and neural pathways

    • Increased confidence and independence

    • Fun and motivating activities enhance engagement and learning

    • Families receive personalised support strategies and home programs to maintain their progress

Designed for children needing extra support, intensive therapy blocks help them take big LEAPs toward independence!

  • OT sessions are 45minutes with you, your child and your therapist. We encourage you to be present during your child's OT session to learn how to continue strategies and activities at home, this ensures you gain the most from your time with your therapist.

Kinleap OT sessions follow Play Based and Sensory Processing approaches. Our aim is to have our children feel like they are playing when really they are working hard!

  • Group therapy supports transferability of skills into real world settings as well as providing fun social environments for your child to practice skills learnt in therapy.

Please chat to your therapist to discuss your child's eligibility for group therapy.

FAQS

  • "Occupation" refers to everything you need or want to do in your daily life. An Occupational Therapist’s role is to support you in living the life you choose.

Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on helping people engage in life with confidence and enjoyment. OTs work alongside you to identify challenges and create practical solutions to make daily activities easier.

For young children, this may involve assessing their developmental milestones and providing engaging opportunities to build essential skills in a fun and motivating way.

Developing these skills empowers children to confidently participate in everyday activities such as toileting, dressing, socialising, and learning.

Let’s take steps together toward big LEAPs!

  • OT may benefit your child if they are experiencing delays or difficulty in these areas:

    • Reaching developmental milestones such as sitting, crawling or walking

    • Developing cognitive skills such as attention, emotional regulation or memory

    • Learning at an age appropriate level

    • Developing age appropriate play and social skills

    • Have a congenital condition that affects their physical or cognitive function

    • Have a neurological condition or developmental disorder that affects their development

if you have further concerns, get in touch with Kinleap today to chat about how we can support your child and family!

  • Yes!

Your Kinleap OT will complete a thorough assessment to identify underlying causes for emotional outbursts and if OT support is indicated, you will be provided with individualised strategies and interventions to support your family to manage emotional outbursts holistically.

  • During your initial assessment your Kinleap OT will:

    • Chat with you about your child’s strengths and challenges

    • Spend time building rapport with your child prior to beginning assessment to ensure your child feels safe and comfortable. This can look different for each child and their unique needs

    • Complete formal &/ informal assessments. Your OT will clinically assess the information provided in your intake form and prepare the assessment/s which are the best fit for your child

    • Finish the session with a fun activity to support future engagement

Initial assessments are typically able to be completed over 1-2 sessions. This is dependent on your child’s age (attention, regulation and response to rapport building) and their complexity of needs. Your Kinleap OT will work with you to create a flexible assessment plan to best suit you child and family.

All assessments are followed with a parent consultation to chat about the assessment outcomes and ongoing recommendations, if OT is recommended, goal setting will also be completed during this session.

  • No, OT’s are able to provide information to support a paediatrician’s assessment however OT’s do not diagnose ASD.

If you are querying an ASD diagnoses and would like your child to be assessed, please speak with your Paediatrician to organise the appropriate resources.

  • Paediatric OT’s use play to target specific skills. Children naturally engage best in activities they enjoy, making play an important part of paediatric therapy. Your Kinleap OT will carefully plan specific play based activities to ensure they match your child’s interest areas, strengths and areas that require support. This promotes progress and success for your child and family

It is a huge compliment for OT sessions to ‘just look like play’

  • No, you don't need a formal referral for Occupational Therapy. You can complete a self referral here if you believe your child would benefit from OT support.

  • Kinleap OT sessions are completed at home or your child’s care/educational facilities when appropriate. It is usually recommended for initial assessments to be completed at your home, however alternative options can be discussed if needed.

  • The cost of assessment and intervention sessions vary depending on their length. These costs, along with travel costs, will be discussed with you and agreed upon prior to confirming your initial assessment.

For NDIS participants, all costs are in line with NDIS approved rates.

For all Kinleap families, all time is carefully considered prior to billing. Providing quality care to our families is our number one priority.

  • We are able to provide services to participants who are self/plan managed. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide services to agency managed plans at this time.

Please contact us if you have any questions.
